The USD #490 Board of Education has approved the hiring of Miles Harvey as their Interim Superintendent beginning July 1, 2022.
Harvey is currently the Director of the Butler County Special Education Interlocal #638. He has been with the Interlocal for the past eleven years serving as an Assistant Director for seven and as Director for four. The Interlocal is responsible for providing special education services to the nine school districts located in Butler County.
Before working as a Special Education Director, Harvey worked for seven years as a Principal in El Dorado serving at both Jefferson and Lincoln Elementary. Prior to coming to El Dorado, he served as the Curriculum Director and Federal Program Coordinator in USD #101 for three years, Principal at Osborne Elementary for four years, and as a 6th Grade Teacher at Canton Elementary for seven years.
Harvey has earned his Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Science in Educational Administration from Emporia State University. His District Licensure Program was completed through Wichita State University.
Miles is married to his wife Christy. They have two sons, both graduates of El Dorado High School. He enjoys spending time with his family, including a new grandson, boating on El Dorado Lake, and hunting the Flint Hills. “I am excited to once again be part of the El Dorado school system.
