El Dorado High School JAG-K students gathered at the Performing Arts Center for the annual Initiation and Installation Ceremony on Oct. 28, 2024.
Students enrolled in the JAG-K program at EHS or Extend are initiated into the JAG-K Career Association. This important component of the program is designed to help members achieve academic and career success through the development and reinforcement of: respect for the dignity of work; effective decision-making skills; pride in accomplishments; positive self-esteem; respect for authority; and concern for the needs of others.
“JAG-K at EHS has been ramping up their commitment to helping the community,” Extend JAG-K Specialist Kody Melugin said. “Through volunteering, leadership development, and employability skills our students graduate with the tools required to make a positive impact on those around them. Our classes are always full of students, enthusiasm, and the drive to learn!”
Students voted on officers to lead the program, and they were installed during the ceremony. They pledged to be a positive example to their peers and lead the JAG-K Career Association in the four key areas of Leadership Development, Career Preparation, Social Awareness and Civic Awareness. All the students in JAG-K recited the creed in front of many members of the community and high school staff. The students then attended a brief celebration following the program.
"The ceremony was a great success and it was an awesome opportunity to celebrate all of the JAG-K students hard work!" EHS JAG-K Specialist Brett Gunderson said.
