El Dorado High School JAG-K students gathered at the Performing Arts Center for the annual Initiation and Installation Ceremony on October 26.
Students enrolled in the JAG-K program at EHS or Extend are initiated into the JAG-K Career Association. This important component of the program is designed to help members achieve academic and career success through the development and reinforcement of: respect for the dignity of work; effective decision-making skills; pride in accomplishments; positive self-esteem; respect for authority; and concern for the needs of others.
This year’s EHS Career Association theme is, “Don’t wait for your future, create it!”
The El Dorado chapter has identified three main goals to focus on for this school year: Leadership Development, Career Development, and Community Service. To achieve these goals, students will participate in leadership training, explore job opportunities, volunteer in community service projects, and network with community members.
Students voted on officers to lead the program, and they were installed during the ceremony. They pledged to be a positive example to their peers and lead the JAG-K Career Association in the four key areas of Leadership Development, Career Preparation, Social Awareness and Civic Awareness.
This years officers are:
- Payton Gipson, EHS President
- Kacey Milligan, EHS Vice President
- Alex Guderyon, Junior Vice President
- Cash Webber, Junior Vice President
- Kellijo Kennedy, Extend President
- Ryan Peterson, Extend Vice President
- Tristan Busby, First Secretary
- Max Miller, Second Secretary
The JAG-K program helps students overcome barriers, graduate high school, and prepare them for college or career pathways what will allow them to meet their full potential as leaders. Ninety-five percent of participants graduate high school and 86 percent report a positive outcome post-graduation.
