El Dorado High School's National Honor Society (NHS) new members, officers, letter-earners, and graduating seniors were recognized during the Induction Ceremony on April 30.
To be eligible to become a member of NHS, students must have at least a 3.5 GPA, be involved in extra-curricular activities, and participate in community service activities. After receiving the invitation to apply, students must provide a letter of recommendation, a list of athletics and activities they are involved in, and an essay that explains how they exhibit the four NHS pillars: service, character, leadership, and service.
In addition to maintaining a minimum of 3.5 GPA, students must also complete 10 hours of community service each semester to remain an NHS member. To earn an academic letter for NHS, students must complete double the amount of community service hours and lead a service project.
