Blackmore fourth and fifth grade students attended a career fair on April 28 to learn more about potential future employment opportunities in the El Dorado area. Several local businesses set up tables to visit with students about what they enjoy about their chosen career field.
There were nine information tables, including educational leadership, civil service, infrastructure, retail art, financial investment, veterinarians, and YouTubers. Students took turns rotating around to each table in small groups.
The mission of the event was to help students understand not only the types of jobs in our community, but to learn more about the education or technical training students would need to pursue one of those careers.
In middle school, students can begin choosing elective courses to help them explore a variety of academic and vocational interest areas. As they enter high school, they are provided with even more options and opportunities. Some El Dorado High School graduates even earn college credit, a technical certificate, or even complete an Associate’s Degree by the time they finish their senior year of high school.
