Jenifer Davis, Executive Director of Instructional Support for USD 490, was the guest speaker for the April 20 meeting of American Association of University Women (AAUW) El Dorado Branch. Davis talked about her education experience and the leadership roles she has held. Next year, Davis will lead 490 as the new superintendent of schools.
AAUW is a civic group that focuses on education and equity for women and girls. Their main project each year is raising money for scholarships to send El Dorado Middle School girls to K-State Grow Camp in June. This year, they have awarded all five $225 scholarships to the STEM camp.
Winners are: Natalie Meirowsky, Jordyn Conant, Mahina Nesmith, Grace Bush and Charlee Emmons.
The students will spend two and a half days participating in hands-on science, technology, engineering and math activities while staying on campus and getting some insight into the college experience.
