Welcome to the Pride Carter Kruger Executive Director of Support Services

The USD 490 Board of Education unanimously approved Carter Kruger as Executive Director of Support Services beginning July 2023 during their meeting on Mar. 20.

During his years working in education, Kruger has gained experience in many areas, some of which include: teaching, coaching, internship and work study coordination, leadership in CTE and alternative school programs, supervision of facilities maintenance and student services, creation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and individual plans of study, curriculum development, and grant writing.

Kruger coached community college women’s basketball for six years before transitioning into the academic side of education in 2015. He worked briefly as a special education paraprofessional before teaching math courses at Liberal High School. He was a Kansas Horizon Award winner in 2017, which is a state recognition for high-performing first-year teachers. He served as an Assistant Athletics and Activities Director for one year before earning a Kansas Building Leadership and Teaching License in the spring of 2020. At that point, Kruger became an Assistant Principal at Liberal High School.

“I hope to serve as a district leader that inspires confidence in a school system from students, staff, and community stakeholders through a hard-working, data-driven approach,” Kruger said.

Please help us welcome Carter Kruger to the USD 490 family. We look forward to having him as #PartOfThePride!
