Natalie Walker, 3rd grader at Blackmore Elementary school, has been chosen as one of the Youth Art Month (YAM) featured artists. Each day of the month, a different student will be featured on the KAEA (Kansas Art Education Association) and Kansas Art Teachers Facebook pages. One student from every elementary, middle, and high school in Kansas could be entered. Natalie's oil painting of Max the dog is one of the 31 featured artists. Her art will be featured on March 14th. All the art that was entered will be judged at a later time, based on elementary, middle, or high school levels. This is an oil painting she created when oil painter Jim Clements visited the school to teach a workshop. She did the entire piece of artwork all on her own. This is a huge honor, especially considering this is between all the elementary, middle, and high school art that was entered in the contest! Check out her art at the Kansas Youth Art Month exhibition on display at Topeka Shawnee County Public Library through March 23. Visit the library's atrium to view artwork from K-12 students across Kansas. Also visit the KAEA website at any time to see pictures and videos of most of the art, including Natalie's.

This morning, we revealed our updated BEAR, based on our student and staff vote!! SWAG with the updated bear will be coming soon! For more information about the process, please check out the FAQ. https://www.usd490.org/page/logo-refresh-faq
